Financial Support

At the Fight Like a Girl Foundation, we understand the emotional, physical, and financial challenges that come with a serious diagnosis. That’s why we offer two distinct financial assistance programs to support individuals and families during these difficult times.

Our Household Essentials Support Grant helps ease the strain of overwhelming medical expenses, while our Cancer Screening Fund covers the costs of essential cancer testing for those unable to afford it, empowering proactive health care. Each program has its own application process to address your unique needs effectively. Explore your options and let us stand by your side as you fight back with strength, dignity, and hope.

Household Essentials Support Grant

Our Household Essentials Support Grant is designed to provide families with one-time financial relief during the challenges of a serious diagnosis. This program offers grants to help cover a specific household bill, such as utilities, rent, or other essential bills, to ease the burden during a difficult time. To simplify the process, approved grants are paid directly to the service provider on your behalf, allowing you to focus on what matters most—caring for yourself or your loved one.

Cancer Screening Fund

Our Cancer Screening Fund is dedicated to empowering individuals to take proactive steps for their health. This program provides financial assistance to cover the cost of cancer screenings for those who cannot afford them and whose insurance does not provide coverage. By helping to remove financial barriers, we ensure that everyone has access to potentially life-saving testing. For approved applicants, payments are made directly to the medical provider, allowing you to focus on your health without the added stress of financial strain.

Application Process

The application process for financial assistance involves several important steps designed to ensure fairness and thorough evaluation. Applicants are required to provide detailed information about their situation, along with supporting documentation to verify their need. Once the initial application is submitted, follow-up questions may be asked to clarify or expand on certain aspects of the application. The process culminates with the foundation’s committee meeting to review all applications, discuss the merits of each case, and make final decisions on the allocation of assistance.

1. Submitting a Completed Form

For both assistance programs, we do ask that the Head of Household or the Spouse/Partner of the Head of Household fill out the assistance application for the most accurate information

2. Documentation Request

After receiving an assistance application, our staff will reach out to applicants and request documentation that verifies their eligibility and financial need

3. Information Verification

We carefully review all applications by cross-referencing submitted documentation to verify accuracy. This ensures our assistance reaches those who need it most while maintaining fairness and integrity

4. Committee Evaluation

A committee will assess all information given to Fight Like a Girl Foundation to evaluate the level of need and fit for the assistance program

5. Decision and Approval

The committee makes final decisions on what grants and amounts will be given out and prepares to notify applicants

6. Disbursement of Funds

Grant recipients are notified about being selected, payment is completed, and we send confirmation of the payment to the applicants along with information about what was paid

7. Follow Up and Reporting

One month later, grant recipients are asked to follow up with us and share how they are doing, any more thoughts on the impact the grant had on them and encouraged to share a photo
